Doing the sums

Goal 1 by 2015:

400,000 more people have a secure food supply and don’t go hungry

Goal 2 by 2015:

The remaining 80 million primary age children start school

Goal 3 by 2015:

All girls stay at school for as long as boys do

Goal 4 by 2015:

5 million less children under five die each year taking the number who die to around 4 million per year

Goal 5 by 2015:

Over 350,000 less women die due to pregnancy or childbirth

Goal 6 by 2015:

HIV/AIDS rates level off and then begin to decline from the 40 million people currently effected

Goal 7 by 2015:

A clean water supply for 600,000 more people

Goal 7 by 2015:

Adequate sanitation for another 1.6 billion people (25% of the world’s population)

Goal 8 by 2015:

Fairer trade allows many millions of farmers to make a sustainable living for their families

  • It is currently unlikely that all the Goals will be achieved so decide which you think are the most important by diamond ranking them. Cut out the 9 cards and order them in the shape of a diamond 1-2-3-2-1
